Attach the Besta IKEA storage bench to the Expedit shelf

I want to place and also secure a Besta storage bench on a horizontal 2x4 Expedit. But how do I best attach the two together?! Do you have any tips?

I completely forgot to mention how I could imagine it. I would mount 4 Capita console legs between Expedit and Besta.

oh dear, you have quite a task ahead. Basically, there is no way to fasten between the [Expedit] and [Besta]. Both have only a thin particle board and a paper honeycomb core in between. There is certainly a way to cover both with some kind of adapter carrier plate and then connect them. However, it probably won't look very nice visually.

Maybe someone else has an idea, otherwise I really see no hope.

The appearance is initially not so important. It is in my study, where everything is already a colorful mix and self-made. So it wouldn't stand out much. For me, what mainly counts is what is practical and feasible. And above all, whether the legs can support the Besta. It has to be fixed anyway, since the whole construction protrudes into the room, so there is no supporting wall at the back.

I would not try this with these lightweight panels. The cover plates are very thin, screws won’t hold unless you catch a chipboard strip, if available. For such panels, Hettich offers "Hettich inject". Whether this could be useful for your purposes, you have to find out yourself.

this is really quite a science. I have now looked at one or the other Expedit work on the www and it actually seems to work all the time. DJ desks, reception counters, etc. are made from it. and it seems to hold up. but I have to find a solution. I want to use the Besta for my two printers so that they don't stand around on my already too small desk. the Expedit standing in front of my desk would therefore be ideal as a mounting opportunity....
