Attach Ikea Expedit desk to 2x2 shelf

Hello,

I wanted to attach the Expedit desk to the expedit 2x2 (the smallest) available for 19 euros.

Now I find that the metal mounting bracket on the desk is only made for the narrow shelves in the Expedit shelf. So I would need the mounting irons in such a way that I have a wide bracket on both sides.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem before?

Drilling into the Expedit should cause problems with structural integrity because I would damage the honeycomb structure?

That's correct. You can't drill into an Expedit because the Expedit is "hollow" inside. You can only try to enlarge the surface area, that is, in the form of a plate, to enlarge the receptacle. If I understood that correctly.
