The window manufacturer wants to install a pilaster inside our new patio doors in the new building for reinforcement. When they wanted to adjust the sash, they noticed that the window was probably not installed quite correctly. It constantly rubs against the frame at the bottom. The pilaster is supposed to fix all of this. One sash of the patio door is 1.06m wide and 2.12m high. What does such a pilaster look like, does it all make sense?

I only know the production of a 'Lisene' on the exterior. It serves both for aesthetics and for reinforcing the wall (structural stability).

What exactly does the window installer hope to achieve with a structural reinforcement of the interior masonry?

Rhenish greetings

Lisenes are also used horizontally in door leaves but serve an aesthetic purpose. Metal strips are inserted in the horizontal joints.
Does he want to install something like that above the patio door for reinforcement?
He should explain to you what he means.

It is probably a multi-part balcony door, where the sash measures 106 x 212 cm. This type of balcony door is often built with insufficient reinforcement for cost reasons. The consequence is that the entire element wobbles when closing. The applied vertical pilaster is supposed to reinforce the statics and reduce the wobbling. What does that have to do with the persistent rubbing of the sash on the frame? Nothing or not much. As a rule, the construction has a rebate clearance of 4 to 12 mm between frame and sash. Additionally, the door fittings can raise the door sash by about 2 mm. Furthermore, a sash lifter should prevent the sash from sagging. You can’t say much more from a distance without further detailed knowledge in your case.
