We are currently still building our house, but we are already trying to obtain quotes for the most essential outdoor facilities, which should ideally be completed before or at least shortly after moving in. We do not want to outsource any further work for the time being and might possibly do it ourselves within the first one to two years. However, we might also let professionals handle more in the end...

The specific work involves the following tasks:

[*]Creating a splash protection strip around the house (9m by 10.6m) (items 3 to 5)
[*]Filling the driveway with gravel from the crane and scaffolding parking area to street level (4 times 15 meters)
Raising the cistern covers with concrete rings accordingly (items 2 and 9).
[*]Securing the light well in front of the basement window (approx. 1.5m deep, 2m wide): one side with L-shaped stones, because there is a window door directly next to it, the other side with planting rings (items 6 and 7)
[*]If gravel is still left: using it to create a terrace substructure (6 by 3.5 m)

So far, we have one offer for this. We hope to receive another one, but the on-site appointment is not until next week, and we have already been warned that preparing the offer might take some time. Other companies have declined due to being overloaded or have not responded at all.

How do you assess the attached offer? Cheap/expensive/realistic? What have similar jobs cost you in recent years (we are building in the Rhine-Main area)?

Expensive.

Over €70/m curb including substructure... Not yet extortionate, but somewhere between expensive and pharmacy price.

€145/t gravel.... €25/ton the material, then 5 tons are delivered and the company makes a fortune....

Good luck with the second offer!

Expensive, expensive. 145 Eur/ton. Crazy. Almost a defensive offer!

Thank you, then let's take our time and wait for the second offer. Even though I am of course aware that we live in an expensive area and prices have rather increased in recent years...

Hi, is the offer from a landscape gardener? Ask a shell builder/deep builder in parallel. They often also offer paving work, which is then cheaper. I am also currently getting offers in the Rhein-Main area. Have the offers divided between material and labor costs. Especially with gravel, that looks questionable.

We have now received the second offer. About 2500€ less with natural stone for the atrium :) (however, still without the cistern rings). In particular, the splash guard strip is much cheaper. That will probably be it, even though they are only available at the end of October. Good that you stopped me from rushing after the first offer.
