Next Wednesday there is the appointment with the electrician.

In the bathroom, I imagine built-in spotlights. What arrangement makes sense? Directly above the sink, or rather set back? Centered in the shower?

I have attached a bathroom plan.

The shower will have a glass wall on the left and also glass with a sliding door on the front long side. The red line at the bottom of the plan is the 2m line.

Thanks for your feedback!

Hello Andree,
that primarily depends on how many spotlights and with what power. My ex has 5 LED recessed spotlights of 9 watts each in a bathroom of the same size. It is dazzlingly bright and way too much. I think 3 pieces of 6W each are enough. Please make sure that it is warm white light. Otherwise, it will have the atmosphere of a workshop. Your electrician should simply present 2 samples. A proper company will gladly do that.

I would put one on the left and right above the sink. With one in the middle, you have problems with shadow formation when applying makeup or shaving.

Thank you for the feedback. The general contractor electrician had suggested 5 pieces of 6 watts each (looking like a 5 on a die). At first, I thought that wasn’t bad.
Yesterday I had another appointment with a different electrician – for one thing or another – he also said that 5 are definitely too many.
3 would be enough. I had the idea here to put them in a row between the door and the window. It would be warm white anyway.

Do you mean between the outer wall (left side of the plan) and the sink, and then between the sink and the shower?

André, I’m going to misuse your topic here because it fits so well with my thought experiments. In any case, I think that three spots in a row should be sufficient for you.

My bathroom is similarly sized. No sloped ceilings, and the shower niche is enclosed on 3 of 4 sides with opaque walls; at the front / bottom of the plan there is a glass door. Personally, I’m not a big fan of spots in the bathroom and would prefer to install a classic ceiling light, but I’m undecided about the position of the ceiling light: red or green? (see plan).
In terms of location, I naturally favor red, i.e. centered in the room. But green would probably illuminate the shower niche better – or is that irrelevant with the room shape and size because wall-reflected light would also sufficiently reach the niche?
