Are PVC ventilation pipes safe despite harmful substances like plasticizers?

The manufacturer of these devices surely also has suitable pipe material (common: food-grade PP) in their portfolio. Or is this a super special system?

Hi and thanks for your answer. These are Meltem heat recovery(1) devices and right now there are pipes for supply and exhaust air included. But I need one or more 15 degree elbows because I can't go straight out of the wall. And as far as I know, Meltem has nothing like that. Do you know where I can get something like that?

Hmh, of course the question arises for me whether the device is even suitable for these requirements (multiple angles: always significant with loss). Has anyone competent thought about this? I haven't looked at the diameters now, but there is still isop... or the good old spiral seam pipe...

Hi, It is one elbow for supply air and one elbow for exhaust air. I spoke with the manufacturer and they had no objection, especially since I only need a 15 degree elbow and the total length is not longer. What do you mean by Isop? The manufacturer advised against spiral seam pipe because the condensate drainage could cause problems due to the internal grooves...

Note: According to studies, rigid PVC is unproblematic and is also commonly used (I have it in my decentralized devices as well). To be 110% sure, use aluminum/galvanized pipes and/or spiral seam pipes.

You will only encounter health issues—as so often—if maintenance or similar is neglected. If no one takes care of cleaning the filters for over 10 years, they will become breeding grounds for germs. A little condensate on pipes to the outside (therefore please also a slight slope in decentralized systems—it only concerns the area where moist warm air meets the cold from outside) is unproblematic.

Thank you! Very interesting. Are these white PVC pipes all made of PVC-U and therefore free of plasticizers?
