Hello dear forum members, I am about to purchase my first property and would like to know if the cracks I discovered inside the basement wall could cause me major problems. I am not technically knowledgeable and therefore cannot assess the situation. Thank you very much for your help. Frank

I "love" these macro shots of details where you can't recognize anything due to lack of context - but at least in gigapixels.

I don't see a crack in the picture, rather a material change, probably due to stones of different density (speculation: there could be a slope line running behind it, or something similar).

Based on this statement, there can really only be one piece of advice: take an expert with you to the next viewing. So if the house is fundamentally in question, it’s better to spend some money now and bring in expertise rather than buying it based on forum assessments. Even with better photos, you can only evaluate this exact spot, not the house as a whole, and you should be able to do that before purchasing.
