Hello dear members,

we have received from the electrician his breakdown of the additional costs for our electrical work and find some items somewhat to quite high.
With quantities of up to 10 pieces in some cases, this of course adds up a lot.

What do you think about his unit prices?
Here are the items that cost us a lot:
Switches apportioned to the lighting circuit = €43
On-off control switches apportioned to the lighting circuit = €42
Motion detectors incl. On/Off/Automatic with relay insert = €125
Step lighting LED 2.2W including converter for staircase, 1x cable laying, 1x switch box milling and plastering, 1x LED spotlight installation = €112

And then, of course, there are still the 19% VAT.

What do you think about his unit prices?

Counter-question: if you want it, do you have another choice?

Hello,

our electrician wanted e.g.

    [*]per motion detector €185
    [*]per additional switch/button €76.80

(all net prices)

Whether this is justified, I don't know, but you usually have the choice between:

[*]choosing another electrician if you don't have a general contractor
[*]removing the entire electrical work and contracting it yourself
    [*]renegotiating (will certainly be difficult)
    [*]accepting the offered prices
    [*]making concessions

Regards Lars

Our surcharges were reasonable, which would have been very expensive for dimmer switches. Here I ordered from the same series online and installed them myself. Tinkered around a bit but they work.

Motion detectors with relay insert are already expensive in procurement, as is step lighting. If then even completely including cable installation and box, it is in my opinion even inexpensive. When installing pushbuttons, additional costs for the Eltako apply. Only the control switch I find somewhat too expensive. For that, the other parts are comparatively inexpensive.

Basically, in my opinion, the prices are not too expensive. However, one must already ask the question here what you get for your money. I would not be shocked by double or triple the price if correspondingly high-quality switches are installed. For comparison, is a car worth 25K€ expensive or not?
