Hello everyone,

I have an entrance door in my apartment, brand Pertura from Hornbach.
It does not close or open 100% correctly.

It is as follows:

If I let the door "fall" into the lock, I still have to press from the inside or pull from the outside so that it does not pop open again.
If I want to open the door from the outside with the key, I have to pull the knob towards me and can only then turn the key.

Unfortunately, I am not really familiar with how to correctly adjust the hinge or where to start here.
I would be very grateful if someone could give me some tips.

Here are 3 pictures of the situation:

This is how the lock looks when the door touches the frame before it snaps shut.

Would have the person who installed it redo the work.

If that is not possible (read and understand the entire text first, then act ;)):

a) Open and unhinge the door

b) Loosen the hinges in the frame (not those installed in the door leaf) with the screws hidden behind the seal and pull them out a bit so that the door moves out further at the pivot point (the distance between door leaf and frame increases). Measuring before and after is sensible; 2mm is often enough to achieve an effect. To loosen, wiggle it firmly or use a large flathead screwdriver as a lever. Then please put some softwood or sturdy cardboard underneath to avoid dents in the frame.

Attention: The screws securing the hinges do not turn endlessly in either direction! Exercise caution. At most gentle! force is needed.

This relieves some tension between the door leaf and the seal.

Attention: layman’s opinion. Additional (professional) people are welcome to share knowledge on this ;)

Thanks ibnan!

I tried it as you described, but it really hasn't improved much. Just to be safe, I only went out 1mm.

Since the door is quite heavy, I need to get a colleague for my next attempt... my girlfriend is refusing after yesterday's action ;-)

If you are renting, then it would likely be the landlord's responsibility.

Our front door was also difficult to open. We always had to pull with one hand before we could unlock it. The carpenter adjusted a few screws on the locking mechanism and since then it works great.

With new doors, the sealing gaskets are still very tight - so it is worth living with it for a few weeks first - some things ease up over time.
