Hello,
we moved into our newly built house 2 months ago and from the very beginning I noticed the following problem:
At various times of day and night, I hear a dripping sound in the bathroom coming from the area of the upper wall/ceiling of the room from a certain corner (sometimes it also sounds a bit like a crack). The sound occurs at different volumes and frequencies and, as mentioned, irregularly throughout the day. I have definitely identified it as dripping because sometimes it happens quickly in succession and makes bubbling noises. However, mainly I hear the sound when it occurs again (definitely several times a day) roughly every 20 seconds.
A month ago I brought in the plumbing specialist who installed the pipes. He listened to everything and turned on the water upstairs. You could clearly hear the water flowing inside the wall in the bathroom (ground floor). He said that the noises were normal and he could hardly hear them (he said: I have to turn up my hearing aid for this…). He also said that whisper pipes were actually installed and was somewhat surprised, but wanted to dismiss it quickly and said the wall was double-planked, the noises were normal, and if I saw any wet spots, I should get back in touch. Service at its finest!
My questions are: What could cause such a noise? Were mistakes made during construction? Can such a noise really be normal? What options do I have to get the problem resolved?
Best regards
