Hello dear experts,

we have been planning our house for many months now and are getting a bit frustrated. Everything should of course be perfect. But of course we also know that there have to be compromises.

Now we are actually quite "done" with our floor plan and don't want to change much anymore. However, I feel that the house is missing "that certain something." From the outside we really like it, but inside it is square, practical, and good.

I would now like to have an atrium above our kitchen. So not an open gallery, but just the atrium. For this purpose, I wanted to attach our current floor plan and my ideas and hope for helpful criticism.

Best regards

... then you can no longer sleep because of the clattering of dishes above. Where is the south?

South is probably down according to the small north arrow at the bottom left in the ground floor plan.

I think this change of the upper floor brings exactly -10 or so... because you should consider the rooms with measurements.

In your original version you have rooms, with the gallery you have chambers. In the original version there is probably still the reservation to make a room out of Child 3 and the office, with the gallery you cement small mini rooms and 2 corridor bathrooms.

Otherwise, I like the floor plan quite well, but I would consider adjusting the sofa position, rather placing the L in the bottom left corner of the living area, possibly starting the partition screen (half-high?) to the dining area already on the left wall. Then you are not sitting on the sofa in full line of sight from the entrance door. And, from the sofa you also have more view towards the window.

I think this is a crazy idea shortly before the end.

I don’t necessarily think the clattering of the dishes will be an issue, since it’s not a classic gallery but rather enclosed upstairs with only 2-3 windows. The point about the rooms upstairs is probably true. The bathroom etc. would suffer a lot. Another idea would be to completely remove the office and set up the office in the third kid’s room. If another child should come (which as of today we do not expect), a desk can then be integrated into the walk-in closet. The walk-in closet is more than generous. I have attached the idea again.

We have also already considered the couch. We might possibly lower the living area by one step and then separate it from the dining area with a half-height room divider.

Are the plans available in a larger size? I can hardly see anything.
