4 hours of work to plaster a door frame?!

Hello dear ones,

I need your expert opinion again!

My new build is finally completed, and now I had my plasterer plaster one door frame inside (really only inside, where the frame is usually installed). No frame was installed there because it is supposed to be an open passage. It is a "normal" passage, no special dimensions.

He has now sent me an invoice for 4 skilled worker hours – that seems a bit much to me? It's not about the amount, but about the principle, as I have already been "taken advantage of" several times during this construction, including by this plasterer.

What do you think? Realistic value?

Thanks in advance! :)

Yes, I do consider it quite realistic.

I think he is exaggerating 100%.

I agree with both previous speakers: two hours if it is a single item listed but completed together, four hours if he comes separately for it. That means I see the appropriate range as between at least 2 hours without and a maximum of 4 hours with preparation time.

Arrival, setup time, a bit dry

there is nothing for half a day

have you ever plastered or painted yourself? Masking everything off, etc.

And always remember to ask beforehand what it will roughly cost

It also depends on the door. For an [Invisibile Türe] I would have the man come immediately. For standard doors: For a single job where the craftsman only comes for this door, that is OK. If it were 10 doors, I would find 4 hours per door too much.
