Hello everyone,
our shell is standing and the screed has been poured. Yesterday I had to realize that our two cellar exit doors are not at the same height. I need to explain the following. Our house and our garage have separate cellars. Our cellar under the house has a thicker screed buildup for KfW reasons than the cellar under the garage. This is intended to serve as a storage room for garden tools and also has no underfloor heating, all of this is okay. And we consider it acceptable. But because of the height differences of the screed, the doors are at different heights, which are close to each other. This already looks very unusual in the shell. Our cellar is mostly not underground! My question is, is this a construction defect? The architect should have noticed this, right? You can’t disfigure the exterior view of the house like this.
His statement was that we had seen the plans and knew that the screed was at different heights. We are laymen and did not give any thought to the doors.
I hope you can help us further.
